Nokia X Android is the new Symbian?

Nokia has launched Android based smart phones, despite its partnership with Microsoft. It is a logical move, although people were still sceptical because after all Microsoft has stuck a deal to buy Nokia and the handset maker's devices should sport Windows Phone 8.

But then let's remember how Microsoft has been one of the largest software supplier for Apple computers, despite the epic silicon valley rivalry.

There will be three Nokia Android models to start with, the cheapest Nokia X which will rival Samsung Galaxy Y and Q-Mobile I think. Then Nokia X+ which will rival Samsung Galaxy Star, and finally Nokia XL which will compete with some models offered by Huawei etc.

 Bold, Confident, Colourful is what Nokia X like wants you to be, and I guess this is a rebirth of Asha platform with design guidelines from Lumia after dumping Symbian completely.

I strongly believe Android is going to replace Symbian on Nokia budget phones. Cheap phones are a big market for Nokia, in fact that's the only market segment feeding Nokia with some cash as the high end market is already swallowed by Samsung/HTC/Apple.

There is a special deal for Nokia X buyers, one month free Skype subscription. The terms and conditions of this deal are unclear but somehow there is a deal of some sort. I feel like this confusing deal will only confuse people because after all it's a confusing deal :)

Nokia even recommends which bluetooth headset you should use with Nokia X, so silly of Nokia marketers. They should know that Bluetooth headsets are soooooo out of fashion. Although Nokia BH-118 looks nice.

The price of Nokia X in Pakistan is also unknown for now, I will update it when its available.

Samsung Galaxy S2 is a very popular smart phone, reason being it's wonderful predecessor Samsung Galaxy S.
A friend recently bought HTC One-X, it's got Android 4.x and I really like the looks of the phone.
Let's hope Samsung Galaxy S 3 will maintain the legacy of Galaxy S family and bring us another wonderful device.

Acer Iconia Tab A500 is an Android Honeycomb based tablet, powered by a dual code Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. In this post I will the un-boxing video with you.
There's no doubt that Apple iPad is the device which originally bought tablet PCs to general public whereas other giants like Microsoft were only showing us dreams of table like computing devices.

But Android based tablets have got their own place in the market, for example iOS based devices like Apple iPad, iPad 2, iPhone, iPod Touch don't have a file system at all. If you want to copy a file into them, you must go through iTunes. But Android liberates us from any such iBallAndChain.

Plus there are several games in built, provided by Acer for free. But you could have good deal of play time with Need For Speed, and Let's Golf.

The display quality of Acer Iconia Tab A500 hundred is superb, the rare 5.0 Mega Pixel camera has got an LED flash attached with it improving the already nice picture quality. The front side 2.0 MP camera makes video conferencing a treat with applications like Skype.

Overall it's a nice device, aimed towards the tech savvy segment of couch computing folks out there. We tried out Skype on our Acer Iconia Tab A500. We also tried popular browsers like Opera, Dolphin, Firefox on Acer Iconia Tab A500, other than the default Android webkit based browser.

One more thing, if we don't talk about the beautiful aluminum back of Acer Iconia Tab A500, it would be unfair, really beautiful. Acer Iconia Tab A500 feels awesome in one's hand, and I didn't find it difficult to use or handle at any time during the two days it stayed with me for the demo. I wish I could find a docking station as well, but it was delayed due to some excise department problems.
